Summer

…and the old woman’s thoughts turn to semi-neglected gardens and home repairs.

With the adopted Marine un-adopting himself to fulfill his wife’s wish to return to her home state of New York, we will be busy with making that pack out possible among other things.  Though we are sparing our aging backs all that carrying: that is what strong young millennial backs are for, no?

In addition to that, the family’s propane fireplace – our main heat source for the entire house, died this past year. It is due for a replacement before the month’s end so as to be ready for fall and winter. And not to be neglected? The kitchen stove decided to dump it’s oh-so-smart electronic computer board and most of the oven functions quit working correctly. So THAT, too has to be replaced – if only Lowes will get off their dead asses and get it delivered.

Meanwhile, my sons are out camping and I am tearing down damaged wall paper and replacing it and moving furniture around in the den. But the peonies are in bloom — reminding me it IS summer!  Good time to watch the paint dry or wallpaper settle….

Herland

The name of this blog, and my Dreamwidth blog, Herlander Refugee, is taken from a 1915 feminist novel "Herland". It makes my heart sing that modern women are experimenting with creation of a new "Herland"! Yes, comments are closed. Anyone who just MUST reach me can do so at syrbal6 at gmail dot com.
