DAPL – Not Just For Indians

hagalaz-no-moreWhen I think about the Dakota Access Pipeline, I get a sense of waiting vigilance. Ok, scratch that – that is what I get when I think about the Indians of Standing Rock. But when I think about the people (like our new CEO Presisent-to-be) who want the pipeline, I get a mental image of a vulture waiting for something dying to stop kicking enough to reach in and pull out an eyeball!

Of course, those building the pipeline are waiting for the Trump Administration to simply declare them free and clear to break treaties, laws, and whatever else in the name of an oil pipeline that has the ready capability to poison drinking water for millions of people of ALL colors, creeds, and ages.

Turns out, even non-Indians are now beginning to realize that the DAPL folks might be playing with a stacked deck!  They bullied landowners into accepting as low a payment as possible for the pipeline crossing their (presumeably white-owned) properties.  They threatened the landowners with imminent domain seizure!  I love how the article ends with the usual suspects announcing those folks doing the lying and bullying were “just doing their jobs as professionals.”  Isn’t that what Eichmann said?

Herland

The name of this blog, and my Dreamwidth blog, Herlander Refugee, is taken from a 1915 feminist novel "Herland". It makes my heart sing that modern women are experimenting with creation of a new "Herland"!
