UnknownIt was a sad week for U.S. troops in Afghanistan and in Jordan. I don’t have all the names yet, will add as the news comes in — but in Kunduz, Afghanistan, the 10th SFGA lost two men to the enemy:
Capt. Andrew D. Byers, 30, of North Carolina and SFC Ryan A. Glover, 34, of Pennsylvania.

At least three Americans acting in a training capacity, were killed in the kingdom of Jordan this week.   Sadly, these deaths should have been avoidable — it appears they may have been shot by Jordanian gate guards because they did not heed an order to stop and present identification.  News stories are singularly indistinct upon this point.  They were men of the 5th SFGA:

SSG Matthew C. Lewellen, 27, of Kansas

SSG Kevin J. McEnroe, 30, of Arizona

SSG James F. Moriarity, 27, of Texas

Herland

The name of this blog, and my Dreamwidth blog, Herlander Refugee, is taken from a 1915 feminist novel "Herland". It makes my heart sing that modern women are experimenting with creation of a new "Herland"! Yes, comments are closed. Anyone who just MUST reach me can do so at syrbal6 at gmail dot com.
