Invaded

2016-04-26_16718Yep, we have been invaded by refugees, too. We were awakened this morning by a lot of rooftop noise. And lo, all day long the invaders have been making themselves visible as they strut ’round the property. I think they’ve picked a nesting zone as well…about 1/6th of my yard will soon be off limits for the next 6 weeks or so!
Four peafowl are my newest “guests” — the magnificent male and his three beloveds are making themselves comfortable!  About 25 years ago, some pets were abandoned and they have managed to hold on back on a wooded hillside.  Their scream-like cries routinely scare new city-bred sorts moving out this way.  They call the cops reporting “woman screaming”!

Herland

The name of this blog, and my Dreamwidth blog, Herlander Refugee, is taken from a 1915 feminist novel "Herland". It makes my heart sing that modern women are experimenting with creation of a new "Herland"!
