Dumb da Dumb Dumb

1a kissAnd the beat goes on….and it is not a Sonny and Cher song, ok?  It is sheer idiocy.  I watched the news last night wherein officials in Maine related that people had “cancelled surgeries at the hospital for fear that nurse would get sick and come into the hospital”.  Right, you fucking morons.  That is like knowing someone is gay in your town and deciding to never seek medical care on the off chance that they “might” contract HIV and be in the same facility.  Oh, wait…that likely WAS what your town was like back when President Reagan and his GOP buddies were ignoring a REAL public health crisis, right?

For the last three nights I have dreamt I was out busting people out of mob-enforced quarantines for fear of Ebola.  To be honest, while I was in a state of damned near berserker fury in my dreams, I WAS enjoying myself a great deal.  I was grabbing babbling idiots by the back of the neck and throwing them off porches.  I was hitting people attacking me in the face with the barrel of a shotgun.  I kicked a couple dumbasses in the ass.  It was great.  But of course, upon waking, it was depressing.

Because I can’t go break out nurse Kaci Hickox, a brave woman who risked her life to save others and is being forcibly incarcerated by the idiots of her state.  Because her state would rather pay a deputy to sit in front of her house keeping her there than EDUCATE the moron citizens about how a woman with NO ebola in her blood, who was NEVER sick at all, is NO risk to them at all.

No, America is not going down with a bang, nor with a whimper….but in a case of terminal fucking dumbness.  We lock up the heroes who would save us all now, pissing our pants in fear.  Good job, GOP, good job American media.  Now I have to die of sarcasm overdose.  Better than dying of dumb.

Leaving the issue of the effectiveness of isolation/quarantine aside: is it possible to tell by a blood test if someone has been infected by the ebola virus? I thought that viral infections could oftimes not be detected until the onset of symptoms. Thinking of those in the medical field who after being accidentally stuck by a needle, who are advised to test immediately, but then again after a period of time.

    • Yes, it is detectible … And considering the time since she left Africa, it has been long enough. Further fostering if irrational fears only creates more chaos in this situation. What is next? Quarantine for ALL hospital workers on the supposition that they MAY have been exposed?

Considering Maine governor LePage, this isn’t surprising. Here’s an article about him: http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2014/01/paul-lepage-maine-governor-crazy-101923.html#.VFJ2XWfD_ct
