Feeling Halloween-ish?

SkullI don’t “celebrate” Halloween.  Not any more.  Sure, my kids enjoyed the whole trick or treat thing — a completely secular sugar high that could last for all of November!  And with December baking round the corner, they didn’t have to come down till January!

I get messages sometimes from other pagans.  Telling me “Happy Halloween” and it makes me wonder what the fuck.  Halloween comes from (All) Hallows Evening — the time right before the Catholic festival for All Saints (all hallows — hallow as in hallowed, holy).  I’m not Catholic any more, so Halloween, like Easter, is off my calendar.

But if you are in a Catholic mood, or merely feeling Halloween-ish?  Here you go! (More on what and how I DO celebrate later over at Experiential Pagan.)

The name of this blog, and my Dreamwidth blog, Herlander Refugee, is taken from a 1915 feminist novel "Herland". It makes my heart sing that modern women are experimenting with creation of a new "Herland"! Yes, comments are closed. Anyone who just MUST reach me can do so at syrbal6 at gmail dot com.
