moral compass?I am definitely existentialist in orientation, and also a humanist. So, obviously I think Sartre was a bit of an ass and am more fond of Albert Camus. He would have been a century old today. I think the world is poorer for lack of such thinkers…even such feuds as he and Sartre had going.

I remember the moment I decided Sartre could just get out of my head….when I read his statement about there being so such thing as an “innocent”….there speaks an ideologist, not a philosopher. He became ready to jettison a moral compass to bolster an idea; somehow I could never seen Camus doing the same thing.

Herland

The name of this blog, and my Dreamwidth blog, Herlander Refugee, is taken from a 1915 feminist novel "Herland". It makes my heart sing that modern women are experimenting with creation of a new "Herland"! Yes, comments are closed. Anyone who just MUST reach me can do so at syrbal6 at gmail dot com.
