Grief and Honesty; Death and Love

12-007MacDowell-entangledpngAs I lay awake last night, insomniac and hearing the wind batter my walls, I thought about how much enriched my life has been since I got online back in 1994. Not only in the initial chatrooms and message boards of AOHell, either.

I have been so fortunate to find such entrancing bloggers as those on my blogroll (and SO many others, some of which have gone away). The intelligence, the brilliance, the wit, courage and defiance I read weekly is what keeps me believing that the entire human race is not a waste of time and space.

And a bit of that Brilliance is dimmed today. Because over at Brilliant at Breakfast, Jill is a widow today. She and her beloved “Mr. Brilliant” have long been fighting some horrific health issues, and now that battle is done. I have no comfort sufficient, but I wish to hail her courage and honesty in dealing the the bitter endings.

The fear that all lovers fear the most. I marvel at her ability to share so intimately. I do not believe I would have her grace under the same circumstances. Such a tragic, sad thing.

The name of this blog, and my Dreamwidth blog, Herlander Refugee, is taken from a 1915 feminist novel "Herland". It makes my heart sing that modern women are experimenting with creation of a new "Herland"! Yes, comments are closed. Anyone who just MUST reach me can do so at syrbal6 at gmail dot com.
