“Dead Soldiers” for Dead Soldiers – Count Zero on Sept 4th

09/04/2013 by syrbal-labrys

photoObviously, my idea of using tiny empty alcohol bottles to number the dead of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars was not as good an idea as I thought. Although the original post has had plenty of hits, there are no bottles coming. This will likely be the last “count” post, since there will obviously be nothing to count.

Except the names of the dead, of course.

umm, could you ask over at stonekettle station? it seem like something his readers might be willing to help with.
I could ask to put up a sign at bev-mo,but I don’t know quite what to put on it–(apart from your address)
I have ONE, will send it along

I managed to make you three. A local distillery we visited this weekend on our way to a party just happened to have mini bottles. Our fellow party-goers were more than happy to finish them off.

    • Excellent! But my chances of getting the 8,200 I need by this November is declining from small to none, I fear.

August is over, right? Why do I still feel like a fly trapped in amber?

I’d love to help, but I just can’t drink that much. 😉

      • Neither can I, even if I could afford that much in such a short time, which I cannot. Obviously, my looking at world maps of drinking efficiency should have shown me, America isn’t keeping up very well. 😉

Still trying here, but everyone keep saying they don’t use/ have / can find the little bottles. It’s a great idea, but I think it will take longer than two months to gather them. Were this after New Year’s eve, I’d probably be having more luck. The liquor stores here always have the little bottles for “stocking stuffers” and the son has a huge party where I could ask his friends to help out. But, this is frustrating. I can only imagine how much it is for you.

      • Yeah, maybe IF we are out of the war in 2014’s anniversary….IF people keep sending them all the next year?

But yeah, frustrating. But I should know that by now, right? And I should just stop kwetching…any public attempt to get the dead noticed has always got me feeling rather the odd woman out since 2003.
