Getting It Wrong (Edited to Add)

(Sorry about changes, my brain is not working this morning!)
1why is everyone so fucking stupidAmerica used to be accustomed to being a “light” to the world, standing for law and freedom…and even though it wasn’t EVER near as sunny as we were taught in Social Studies, it was usually a pretty good effort in the correct direction. Well, Osama bin Laden may be dead, but if you ask me? He won his “war”. Since 9-11 America has been transformed by fear and become a nation of irrational reaction and revenge. I’ve been mourning for some time now over how Israel, a nation I once admired, has become everything it once hated and fought.

Imagine how I must mourn that my own nation is becoming a shattered “dragon’s eye” view of the many things we have hated and fought? Specially since why and what they say they are doing to protect Americans doesn’t make sense, because it is doing nothing of the sort. (number 3 and 4 are my favorites)

For instance, THIS is how we radicalize and create terrorists from people who once liked America. This is America not obeying her own rule of law. (And remember “Camelot” folks? This is why Arthur sent Guinivere to the stake, to prove HE and SHE were not above the laws of the land.) But no, we give ourselves permission to murder citizens without trial. Children.

And keep pumping those yellow ribbons, America. Because as Skippy reminds us, Uncle Sugar is the worst at not obeying the rule about letting veterans have their jobs back after going off to war. Keep it up, Uncle Sugar….somewhere Marx is laughing.

And if you wonder why the 1% doesn’t care if your life sucks? Because it is MORE for them and easier if we are all kept broke, scared, and desperate. And what the hell, even dead, maybe?

And if you thought the TSA was holding you up at airports, wait till you see how much better an IT issue can hose up the works! I note the news isn’t saying much about this….I thought it would be a lead headline today, but thus far, only on Consumerist.

Remember how Americans sneered at China for blocking websites? Well, seems now we may have to eat that crow; because we don’t like how our campaign to brand Edward Snowden a traitor rather than a whistleblower is being reported abroad. The Guardian itself reported that the US Army was blocking their sites. Pssst, hey, Uncle Sugar? Don’t forget Der Spiegel?

And finally? I must snark a bit about how the chickenhawks are going on about why closing our embassies (one assumes, to avoid another much screamed about Benghazi) makes us “look like cowards“. What a walking sack of shit, you are Louie! You and your crew just can’t admit that if America can’t dominate a place either militarily or economically, you’d rather not have an embassy there to begin with….fucking Rethuglicans.

But hey, what the hell, go ahead….get some coffee and have a donut, right?

Thought I should mention that you have a broken link in your sixth paragraph – “kept broke, scared, and desperate.” It “lights up” but nothing happens when I try to click.

You’ve hit all the points. And it’s so hard to know what to do about them – disheartening, really. How do you shake people enough to open their eyes to see what is going on around them? No, they are just more interested in things that aren’t going to count in a year from now. It’s so frustrating and depressing.

Damn linkages. Will fix. And yes, people interested in things that won’t count in a year…..in a week, in an HOUR.
