We do take our glass bottles to the recycling center. That is when we do not refill them with things of our own making….these are three recycled bottles now filled with elderberry mead. They are not to be opened for at least one year, and at least one of them will remain sealed until 2016. The rest of this black as night brew is in a carboy in the kegerator, but not hooked up to a tap yet._DSC3346-Edit The son stamped the beeswax seal with the letters “CG” for “carmen gloria”….a rip from a family favorite film romp, “The Thirteenth Warrior”….where it meant a ‘song/poem of glory’ because if drinking this wouldn’t inspire you I don’t know what it would take!

The rose petal mead is still brewing gently, the huckleberry is awaiting corks to be bottled.

Herland

The name of this blog, and my Dreamwidth blog, Herlander Refugee, is taken from a 1915 feminist novel "Herland". It makes my heart sing that modern women are experimenting with creation of a new "Herland"! Yes, comments are closed. Anyone who just MUST reach me can do so at syrbal6 at gmail dot com.
