Pro-Life, My Left Tit!

Let’s talk briefly about pro-life assertions, shall we? Let’s just consider some of the real nuts and bolts of these gallant defenders of life unborn. They are all against women getting the choice of whether or not to procreate, and will absolutely deny a woman the right to decide to abort. Fetal tissue is ever so much more entitled to consideration and health than a fully grown sentient woman, after all.

Or is it? Because, please to recall, all you picket carrying yahoos outside Planned Parenthood offices….that baby doesn’t arrive in the stork’s kerchief or pop up under cabbage leaves, does it? It has to be carried in a woman’s body for nine months…and what happens to that woman that affects HER generally has a very good chance of having the same effect, positive or negative, on that precious bundle of fetal tissue. So, a wee note for action to you, if you really give a rat’s ass about babies-to-be? How’s about giving a damn about the MOTHERS who have decided NOT to abort (in perfect accord with all your screaming, right?) and who are trying to work to provide for the fetal tissue that will become a person with REAL needs like food and shelter in a few months? Because employers routinely find ways to make life miserable for pregnant women, even if they can’t as easily simply fire them as in the ‘good old days’.

Now, I’ve been pregnant at least seven times. It is not the most fun ever. I have three living children. I miscarry rather easily, you see? I need to take extra special care not to piss off and abuse my body the first three or four months. The first pregnancy of my marriage ended after running Army PT a bit too enthusiastically dutifully under male orders, but hey, I wasn’t far enough along to merit a ob/gyn appointment yet, so tough titties, right?

My last pregnancy, which also ended in miscarriage, was in 1988. It pretty much ended my efforts to blitz through the time limits on my Vietnam Era GI Bill to get my college degree. The stress, long hours and near inability to eat if I didn’t want to vomit while simultaneously caring for my three children and managing my husband’s transition from military to civilian life AND medication prescribed for me WITHOUT me being told it would have an abortion inducing side-effect put paid to that darling little fetus.

So, all you holy-rolling-fetus-ophiles? Ignoring the pains and suffering and needs of not only living CHILDREN and their inconveniently mouthy MOTHERS is working against your “every sperm-result-is-sacred” mission. Maybe women wouldn’t reluctantly (I have yet to meet a woman choosing abortion who is happy with the choice) select to NOT be pregnant if they weren’t treated so poorly WHILE pregnant. And maybe – just maybe – if they thought they might get a reasonable amount of aid AFTER they had the helpless little thing that would attach to a kneecap within months of leaving the womb, even nasty evil liberal feminist “bitches/sluts” like me would be more inclined to select “live birth” on some survey?

Besides, wtf is your beef? After all, all those wee dead fetus-beings? They are innocent and go direct to the arms of your loving (if singularly neglectful) Jesus, right? What, heaven isn’t good enough for the wee tissue-bits? They HAVE to go through the same shit on earth as the rest of us first? Well, now….just how loving and gentle “let the little children come unto me” is that shit? Maybe you all anti-abortion allegedly pro-life sorts are just afraid that the full measure of mean-minded ‘told you so’ suffering is being escaped by SOMEbody?

Yeah, I think old Freddie Nietzsche might have had it right…you all don’t really love life, you hate and fear it. And therefore, let doom fall upon any of us who look like we might some how, some where, some time be having any fun with our living. The only “life” you approve of is the mute, will-free sort that can’t talk back. The fetus is perfect….right up to about 5 seconds after delivery when it opens its mouth and screams. Oh, right, wait….it isn’t an innocent dear little fetus then, is it?

Nope, not pro-life. They’re anti-choice. It’s as easy as that.

Here’s a really big secret (not): “pro-lifers” aren’t. They just care about punishing whores. Which is code any woman who becomes pregnant outside of a traditional marriage (an arrangements which precludes women from working outside the home).

So the next time you go to Target, ask the clerk about her kids. The moment she reveals she has any, attach a scarlet A to her chest with a staple gun. Then ask her to ring up the staple gun.

Pretty much it, isn’t it? And this is why they are anti-contraceptive, cause how else can they tell an unwed woman is having sex if she isn’t getting knocked up?

Pro-Life is Pro-Patriarchy. Anything which gives women any say-so is a threat to the Patriarchy. That way they can have the seemingly diametrically opposed views of Fetal Rights while voting to eliminate SNAP. It’s all about Control. Cue the Janet Jackson…

Exactly right! There are times I wish my family and I lived in the civilized world rather than the US.

My daughter had 3 months leave from her job to have her baby -all unpaid, of course. Now she’s back to work. If it wasn’t for my wife and I doing 95% of the babysitting, she’d be unemployed. We are doing all we can for her as she had post partum depression after the birth of her first child, spent some time hospitialized and months in therapy. The stress probably did much to end her first marriage.

Just to make things interesting, her landlord lost her building for non payment of taxes and she has to find another place to live before the end of the month.

She married a man from Turkey and is trying to get him into the country. No issues with that, right? He expects to be here by July 20, but that assumes some things go smoothly.

My son-in-law has a job waiting for him here and they should be able to handle things on their own.

You are right. There’s no support for real live flesh and blood, living and breathing human beings. Easier to support a lump of flesh, as it has few needs and makes no demands.

Sickening isn’t it, and although I know crazy fluctuations in body chemistry contribute to post-partum depression? I can’t help but wonder if the utter dichotomy between what America SAYS about bearing children and how it TREATS the women who do it doesn’t also contribute.
