Needs More Than A Yellow Ribbon!

Specially in a time as more and more American cities crack down on the homeless and arrest them for sleeping “in public”….American veterans reduced to homelessness are perhaps the most pitiful. And female veterans, often with their children? Shameful, America, shameful….especially considering the screaming that goes on about family values. It takes more than a yellow ribbon to fix this, and one female vet knows it and isn’t waiting around for others to wake up.

I must say, it sure seems to me that the values of the 1% are paramount when being poor is becoming a crime. And when our “heroes” from the wars are among them.

It’s a national disgrace. At the very least, there should be interim housing and vocational training provided for them so they can recover their equilibrium. Of course, what is really needed is major penalties for firing reservists while they are serving overseas.

Seems as long as they don’t call it firing, they get away with it. It sucks. But then, banks foreclosed on deployed troops and not enough bags of heavy hammers dropped on them for that either.

The name of this blog, and my Dreamwidth blog, Herlander Refugee, is taken from a 1915 feminist novel "Herland". It makes my heart sing that modern women are experimenting with creation of a new "Herland"! Yes, comments are closed. Anyone who just MUST reach me can do so at syrbal6 at gmail dot com.
