Rain and Irises

05/28/2013 by syrbal-labrys

It has rained nearly every day for the last week. Every surface glistens. And yet my yard is scented with the heavy fragrance of irises in bloom. I love the scent, and the deep velvety purple and black of my favorite blossoms. Too soon, the skies will dry and with them the royalty of my garden. I intend to gift myself with new colors to plant this fall….so I can await next May with anticipation.

The name of this blog, and my Dreamwidth blog, Herlander Refugee, is taken from a 1915 feminist novel "Herland". It makes my heart sing that modern women are experimenting with creation of a new "Herland"! Yes, comments are closed. Anyone who just MUST reach me can do so at syrbal6 at gmail dot com.
